A BILL to extend the time for the municipality of Philippi to meet as a levying body for the purpose of presenting to the voters of the municipality an election to consider an excess levy for park and recreational facilities in the municipality of Philippi, from the third Tuesday of April until the last Thursday in May, one thousand nine hundred ninety-seven.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

MUNICIPALITY OF PHILIPPI EXCESS LEVY.

§1. Extended time for Philippi governing body to meet as levying body for election to consider an excess levy for park and recreational facilities.

Notwithstanding, the provisions of article eight, chapter eleven of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, to the contrary, the municipality of Philippi is hereby authorized to extend the time for its meeting as a levying body, setting the levy rate and certifying its actions to the state tax commissioner from the third Tuesday in April, until the last Thursday in May, one thousand nine hundred ninety-seven, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of the municipality of Philippi the consideration of an excess levy for park and recreational facilities.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide that the time can be extended for the governing body of the municipality of Philippi to meet as a levying body for the purpose of presenting to the county voters an election to consider an excess levy for the park and recreational facilities in that municipality from the third Tuesday of April until the last Thursday in May, 1996.
